I lived in Croatia up until I was seven years old. I lived with my mom and grandparents. And in our household, it was usually my grandma that was cooking. She would often cook Serbian but also Mediterranean dishes like this one. The food was light, with lots of vegetables and not much meat.

Jansson’s temptation
This is a Swedish Christmas classic. V makes this every year around this time, at least a couple of times. It is what I look most forward to at the Christmas table, aside from the sweets. 🙂 We have it with ham, beetroot salad, Swedish Christmas bread, meatballs, eggs, caviar, cornishon, peppers, mustard.. and more. 🙂
Moussaka
Growing up I had moussaka often and in our family it is usually my grandma who makes it so this is her recipe. This is also basic moussaka recipe which I added chili to because I like spicy food and bacon slices for deeper flavor. Bacon slices also make for a pretty presentation.
